Where I am

My roommate in the sorority house is Mary Katherine Dean! Mary Katherine and I talked about how this sorority and living in the house have changed our lives. We both don’t have sisters and have one brother, and as special as a brother-sister bond is, we have always craved the idea of having a sister. She explained that she dreamed about the relatability, support, and uplifting aspect of having a sister as well as the simple things such as sharing clothes. What is so significant for me is the fact that in high school I never would have thought I would end up in Texas or in a sorority. I laughed at the thought of either of those things. I sit in this house, already full of memories, reflecting and respecting myself for stepping out of my comfort zone because I am so grateful for all the things that this school and these girls have taught me. Mary Katherine expressed the same gratitude and that she is excited about the aspect that this sisterhood stays with us for the rest of our lives. 

For my community/site visit, I walked around the entire Zeta Tau Alpha house on campus. I started in the main living room area and ended in my room. I was able to describe distinct memories that I associated with different places in the house after only living there for 4 months. 

Although being a part of a sorority and living in the house has influenced my college experience in amazing ways, it is hard to avoid comparing yourself to your sorority sisters whom you live with. Mary Katherine and I related to the fact that we have caught ourselves comparing our physical appearance to many girls by accident. With this being said, I have always been passionate about having a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating so I became inspired to research more for my part three and final campaign!
